Having a painful period is not natural, but is a symptom of lifestyle choices that are not conducive too good health.

Periods should be regular, short, with a flow that does not require changing the tampon or pad multiple times an hour.  The blood should not be clotted or dark red or brown, but about the same color as if you cut yourself elsewhere on the body.  If your periods have dark clots, painful cramps, and a heavy flow (or hardly any); and are not regular, please do not use artificial medication just to 'control' your period.    This is just like taping over the engine warning light that comes on when you are driving.

Please consider checking out the resources listed below as you explore how to return to a balanced state of health.

Acupuncture can help bring balance back to your hormonal and endocrine systems and help regulate your menses as well as your fertility.

Women learn a lot about when they are younger about how *not* to get pregnant.  Here's what you should really be learning.  Give this book to every woman as she comes of age, for the sake of the human race.

Please read this if you dye your hair.

Para-phenylenediamine, or a close chemical variant of para-phenylenediamine is in virtually every chemical hair dye, even most hair dyes which claim to be natural.  There is now an epidemic of sensitization (allergic reaction) to this chemical because of over-exposure.  The allergic reactions can be severe and require hospitalization.  Long term effects of exposure to this chemical include lupus, asthma, non-Hodgkins lymphoma, and there appear to also be links to breast, uterine and bladder cancer.

If you want to color your hair, and cover gray, and do not want to incur the health hazards of para-phenylenediamine, use ONLY pure henna, indigo, and other plant dyes that have been certified by an independent laboratory to be free of chemical additives and adulterants.  You can get this from
                        mehandi.com.

Para-phenylenediamine is expressly forbidden for use on skin because it is such a dangerous chemical.  It is permitted for use as a hair dye only if the hair dye doesn't actually touch the scalp.

Henna has safely colored and conditioned women's hair for at least 6,000 years.   Henna has tannin in it.  These tannin molecules bind into keratin (hair) molecules and make the fibers physically stronger, like winding threads together to make a stronger string. After you henna hair, it is softer, stronger, tangles less, and the split ends disappear.
